Concept: JAVAR (Frost)

Winter, as a season, has its own intelligence. It is the period when maturity reaches its peak before entering hibernation—resting in preparation for the next flourishing cycle. Life returns to its base, to its foundation. Everything turns inward, calms down, and waits for light. Without winter, there is no life after.

Javar means frost in Mongolian.

Through this residency, we invite artists to confront, welcome, and receive their inner frost, engaging with the fresh, cold, and frozen environment of the taiga and the harsh Mongolian winter. The extreme climate becomes both a physical and metaphysical landscape, one that allows reflection, awakening, renewal, and deep inner hibernation.

All activities will be fully documented and later presented to the public, raising awareness of how hardship and severe weather can awaken resilience, offer freshness, initiate new cycles, and encourage inward reflection.

We are now accepting art proposals and project ideas related to this concept. Selected artists will be welcomed into the JAVAR International Art Residency.

Through this residency, we aim to foster resilience, cross-cultural and personal collaboration, and ecological awareness in one of the most extraordinary frozen regions of the world, where harsh climate and difficult conditions coexist with the lives of authentic nomadic communities.
