Onongua Enkhtur
Onongua Enkhtur, born on May 26, 1994, in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, is a contemporary artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans land art, textile, performance, and installation. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture (2012–2016). She began her career in traditional painting before shifting her focus in 2019 toward land art and textile-based works. Her first solo contemporary art exhibition was held in 2022 at Khan Art Gallery in Ulaanbaatar.
Deeply influenced by her nomadic upbringing and close relationship with nature, Onongua’s work is grounded in themes of ecological awareness, cultural memory, and human connection to the environment. Her primary mediums include knitting, embroidery, weaving, and mixed drawing techniques, often accompanied by performative and installation elements.
"Mother Earth, sacred love, and the umbilical bond are threads of one eternal weave—a deep connection that unites all life."
Through works such as Do Not Cast Your Shadow, Spoilage, Home, and Weaving the World's Mane, Onongua encourages a deeper appreciation for the natural world and seeks to raise awareness about pressing global issues such as climate change and desertification. Her art serves as both homage and call to action—a visual reminder of our shared responsibility to protect and cherish the Earth.
